Do you know what the number one cause of childhood obesity is? American kids are spending way too much time snacking and playing or watching electronics. First of all, you need to realize that your body produces ear wax as protection for your ear drum and ear canal, and if you had never touched the insides of your ears all your life, you would never have to worry about ear wax at all, as the body naturally regulates the amount of ear wax you have. The problem, however, is that most people have messed with the insides of their ears, and in so doing many of them have created blockages with their ear wax, and not only are these blockages uncomfortable, but they can also impair hearing and can increase the likelihood of ear aches and ear infections.

One of the best ways to get rid of this buildup of excess ear wax is to heat up either oil or hydrogen peroxide, and to lay on your side as you drip this heated-up solution into your ear; let it sit in there for about fifteen minutes, then turn onto your other side so that it can drain out of your ear.

Another way that you can try to get rid of that buildup of ear wax is with an ear candle; by putting an ear candle into your ear and lighting it, the candle will send warmth and small amounts of smoke into your ear, which will help to "melt" the extra wax that has built up.

If you have a lot of excess ear wax built up, it can take a number of times of doing one or the other of these things before you finally solve the problem - and flushing your ear with hot water afterward will also be a necessary part of either procedure - but when you use one of these two methods and have a bit of patience, you can keep yourself from ever having to worry about ear wax again!

Getting Your Child a Biking Helmet

You will need to start by measuring your child head with a tape measure.  This will give you a rough idea of what size you need to consider in a helmet. There should not be a lot of air between your strap and your skin.  The straps should be snug but comfortable. There should not be too much wiggle when you shift the helmet. You want to purchase a helmet that fits them now.  Don't purchase one that they can grown into later.  Plan on purchasing new helmets your child grows. Having an helmet that is too loose is not safe even though it is convenient that they can grow into it.

If your child has a hard crash and bunked their head, you will need to replace their helmet. This is pretty much the industry standard, for replacing helmets. There is some disagreement as to, what time frame you need to replace the helmets because of wear and tear.  Some sources indicate you need to replace helmets every three to eight years. The length of time you can use your helmet depends a lot on how ou take care of it. With kids you may be replacing them that often anyway because of growth.

It is important to find helmets with vents for the comfort of your child. Unfortunately some childrens helmets don't have vent slots in them.  This is unfortunate because children can easily get overheated. It will be much easier to convince your child that they have to wear a helmet when they are comfortable in it. If you can find a selection of helmets with vents, let your kiddo pick out their own.

Whether you want to climb a mountain someday or just plain tone up, resistance training is a important part of any workout program. The following strength training exercises can be done in the comfort and privacy of your home.

A resistance band is the perfect instrument for toning upper body muscles. Grasp an end of the resistance band in either hand and then step on the middle of the band. Pull up on the band using a variety of poses to work your biceps, triceps, and shoulders. Listen to your body as you challenge your upper body muscles, tailoring the resistance training workout to your body's needs. Repeat sets of various pulls until you fatigue the muscles.

You can also use your own body weight to tone your upper body. Try getting into the traditional push up position to start. Work your body with a set of push ups and then shift into a plank position, holding it, all muscles engaged. Rest again, and ease your way into downward dog, with your legs straight and your arms stretched in front of you, your body forming a triangle. Hold the position, allowing your shoulders to take the brunt of the weight. Stretch and repeat as needed.

Next you can challenge your lower body with the resistance band. Adjust the resistance band such that it rests on your ankles, and then walk to the side, taking wide steps and feeling the resistance from the band in your inner and outer thighs. Walk in one direction, and then switch and walk in the other direction, repeating until you feel the burn. Then switch tactics, standing on one foot and extending the other leg in a front, then side, then back kick, each time challenging the band. Make sure to switch legs so both sides get an equal workout.

You can also tone your lower body with exercises that make use of your body weight. With your feet solidly on the ground, sit back until you look like you are sitting in a chair, and hold, engaging your buttocks and leg muscles. When you can't hold the squat anymore, stand up, shake your legs out, and then do it again.

This resistance training program will get you toned up in a jiffy, if only you persevere. You'll get the best results if you buy an inexpensive set of resistance bands.
